About Doyle Health + Performance
Nick Doyle left his home state of Iowa to attend the University of Colorado at Boulder-a city with a reputation as “America’s Fittest City.” Boulder didn’t need another gym or “fitness class.” What the city did need was comprehensive, science-based training services. His understanding of what it’s like to feel aware, strong, and capable-along with his knowledge and desire to help others experience their “best physical selves” fathered Doyle Health and Performance.
DHP primarily operates within select gyms and businesses along the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Boulder and Denver, Colorado. They offer a myriad of training products and services for active professionals, athletes, and corporations seeking superior human performance.

Meet Nick Doyle
Founder, Head Performance Coach
Nick Doyle is the founder and head performance coach of Doyle Health and Performance. Over the past 15 years, Nick has become one of the area’s top coaches, providing expertise in human performance and corporate wellness.
As a lifelong athlete, coach, author, and “physio-nerd”, Nick attributes his success to his unique background and fascination with the human organism. Nick’s academic background includes degrees in Kinesiology and Biochemistry, experience in biological engineering, and published research focused on cartilage regeneration and the knee.
When he’s not coaching, learning, or teaching others, Nick continues to push himself-both inside and outside the gym. You can usually find him outside playing on trails or in the backcountry. Whether he’s chasing powder, backpacking, rolling down singletrack, or some new adventure-you can bet he’s still training hard, striving to have as much fun as possible.
What Our Clients are Saying
Gage Hornung
Division III Distance Runner
The 1st 2 years of my collegiate running career were haunted by injury. Due in large part to Nick’s dedication and knowledge of biomechanics, I was able to overcome an injury I thought may never heal. He has the perfect combination of patience and intensity in his methodical approach to exercise. I’ve been to many PT’s and trainers over the course of my injuries and none helped me as much as Nick.

I started working with Nick while coming back from a shoulder injury and severe SI dysfunction because I was determined to self-support kayak 226 mi down the Grand Canyon. He carefully tailored workouts to my body and my goals, and I paddled the river in 12.5 days. Nick is excellent with technique, and as an aging outdoor athlete I consider him a critical part of my wellness team.

I met Nick because he led a corporate wellness program at my place of employment. I’m happy I did! I hired him to get me ready for a backpacking trip through Israel. With a history of knee and back pain, he taught me the proper mechanics and exercises to keep me strong and healthy while traveling. I owe Nick a ton and couldn’t recommend him enough.

I have been working with Nick since 2012, his professional expertise has helped me immensely. He’s helped me run my fastest 5k and 10k ever at age 40, and get me back climbing again after a climbing overuse injury forced me to undergo shoulder surgery. Working with Nick is a pleasure, he takes pride in what he does and is always willing to discuss training strategies and physiology.

I’ve been working with Nick for 9 years. Throughout that time, we’ve accomplished a variety of goals. Before starting with Nick, I was mainly a runner. I could barely do 5 chin-ups in a row, and my core was weak. Now, some of the goals we’ve accomplished include: 405 lb. deadlift (>2x body weight), 100-135lb. barbell squats in 10 minutes, and 40 chin-ups in 4 minutes.

I started training with Nick to get healthier. In 6 weeks, I’d lost 21 pounds and 14.2% of my body fat! I felt amazing and wanted to challenge myself-so we started powerlifting. He also inspired me to get outside to hike, bike, and run. I completed my first duathlon (run, bike, run) and finished first in my age group! Now, I thrive on being physically active-Nick has really helped change my life.

I trained with Nick while on my college dance team. The cardio improvements, core and arm strength I achieved really helped me during practices and performances. He’s great at motivating you to work harder while being clear about where your body should be and what you should be feeling. I’d leave training feeling accomplished and fatigued, and appreciated the time he’d take to explain everything.

I trained with Nick before I had my son (including the first few months of pregnancy). He helped me take my fitness to new levels…and I was having fun in the process! At age 38, I was in the best shape of my life-having always been a runner and fairly fit, this says a lot. The best part, however, was the ease of my pregnancy and recovery after my son was born. I bounced back in less than 2 weeks.

As a 71-year old retiree health & fitness are more important than ever. Age brings the necessity to pay more attention. I’ve been working with Nick since 2007, my blood pressure and resting heart rate have improved, blood chemistry is excellent, and lower back pain eliminated. The combination of cardio and strength training, Nick’s education and experience has made this all possible–and fun!
